Joshua Mai is an acoustic artist, singer-songwriter, and performing arts tutor, offering both live music and one to one tuition across the UK.

With over 14 years of experience as a performer, recording artist, and educator, Joshua brings a wealth of knowledge to every stage and student. His live shows are intimate, soulful, and full of energy, blending heartfelt originals with a carefully curated mix of indie, rock, blues, and soul classics.

Armed with just an acoustic guitar, a loop pedal, and his signature raspy vocals, Joshua creates rich, layered soundscapes that turn any space — from a candlelit restaurant to a cruise ship theatre — into an unforgettable musical experience.

Joshua’s performances span generations of sound. Taking listeners on a journey from the vintage golden age of music — the 1950s rock ’n’ roll and country legends — through to modern indie, rock, and pop, he pays homage to the artists who shaped his musical roots. Early influences include The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Eddie Cochran, all the way back to blues greats like Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, Son House, Elmore James, and forward to icons like John Lee Hooker and Eric Clapton.

His journey as a songwriter began in 2010 and has since grown into a dedicated and evolving a catalogue of original material, reflecting years of life, travel, and creative exploration.

Since picking up the guitar at age 12, Joshua has performed across the UK and internationally, entertaining crowds on cruise ships, holiday parks, hotels, restaurants, festivals, weddings, and private events.

Whether he's teaching the next generation of musicians or performing to a room full of strangers, Joshua brings a rare authenticity and passion to everything he does — making each moment, each song, and each story feel truly his own.
